The Collectives

The Collectives

Creative Collective for Change

Empowering Black artists and allies to reshape Chattanooga’s arts and entertainment landscape — one event, one voice, one connection at a time.

Supporting Chattanooga’s Cultural Pulse

Founder’s Statement

Founded by Cheri Hudgins, The Collectives was born from a deep need to create more than just moments—we’re building a movement. A movement where Black and Brown creatives aren’t just booked—they’re valued. Where our DJs, promoters, stylists, speakers, set designers, musicians, and visionaries are no longer operating in silos, but moving in alignment, strategy, and collective power.

This is more than an entertainment group. It’s a cultural infrastructure project—designed to shift the trajectory of Chattanooga’s arts and entertainment landscape by:

    •    Unifying the voices that shape the culture

    •    Providing systems that sustain the work

    •    And making sure the city sees our value—and invests in it

🌱 Why We Were Created

The Collectives was created because:

    •    Too many artists are doing everything alone with no structure or support.

    •    Too many events rely on “at the door” purchases, leaving organizers without financial stability or confidence.

    •    Too many creatives feel unseen, underpaid, or only invited when it benefits others.

And perhaps most importantly:

We were created because we needed space—literal and emotional—to cultivate our ideas, bring our visions to life, and build lasting legacies instead of one-time events.

A Word to Our Community:

We’re calling on you, our community, to help rewrite the narrative.

If we want to bring quality entertainment, healing-centered events, and paid opportunities to our creatives—we need early support. We cannot thrive as a city that waits to buy tickets “at the door.” That model keeps us small, underfunded, and constantly at risk.

Buying your ticket early says:

    •    “I believe in this event.”

    •    “I see the value.”

    •    “I want to be a part of something greater.”

It gives us the confidence to book bigger, plan smarter, and build better—for all of us.

🎯 Mission Statement

To unify and elevate Black and Brown creatives in Chattanooga by building systems of support, storytelling, and sustainability—so our culture thrives not just onstage, but behind the scenes, in the boardrooms, and in the community.

We gather to collaborate,

We grow to build infrastructure,

And we lead to change the narrative.
